A Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives responsible for carrying out the administrative functions of Panchayati Raj institutions. In the case of a Gram Panchayat, it is the main committee that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and manages day-to-day governance.The main components of a Panchayat are:President: The head of the Panchayat. The President presides over meetings and oversees the overall functioning of the Panchayat.Vice President: Performs the duties of the President in their absence.Ward Members: Elected representatives from each ward of the Panchayat.Standing Committees: Formed to facilitate Panchayat decisions in areas such as finance, development, welfare, health, and education.

History of Grama Panchayat

### Summary of Vallachira Grama Panchayat Vallachira Grama Panchayat was formed after the establishment of Arattupuzha Panchayat in 1940. Paraykkal Varith was the first President, followed by Mullappilly Govindankutty Nair, who served from 1953 to 1979 through democratic elections. In 1978, Avinissery Village was separated to form Avinissery Panchayat, and K.W. Kesavan Elayathu served as President from 1979 to 1985. Historically, most lands in Vallachira and Arattupuzha belonged to Brahmaswom and Devaswom authorities. The name “Vallachira” is believed to have originated from a large pond (“chira”) built by Vallabhan Chettiar near the Bhagavathi Temple. Several local leaders, including K.W.
